Lebanon: Jordan Was Among the First to Support Us, and Economic Projects Are Forthcoming

Al-Taj News – Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi said Wednesday that Jordan was among the first to support the Lebanese Army, and was also among the first countries to provide humanitarian assistance to Lebanon during the wars and the Beirut port explosion.

Speaking from New York during television coverage of the meetings of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Raggi described Jordanian-Lebanese relations as “excellent” and extending for more than 60 years, noting that His Majesty King Abdullah II pays attention to Lebanon and defends its cause in international forums.

Raggi pointed out that Jordan was among the countries that provided the most support and assistance to the Lebanese Army, explaining that there are preparatory conferences for the general conference that will determine the needs required to assist the army, with the Paris Conference being one of these preparatory steps.

On the economic front, Raggi said that joint projects with Jordan are being worked on, including economic cooperation and investment exchanges, in addition to the electricity interconnection project, which was delayed due to the previous situation in Syria, and the gas transportation project, which is still under study.

He affirmed that these projects are important for Lebanon and the entire region and strengthen relations between the two countries.
